On 11 January 2004, we received this success story about Bench Step Aerobics. We hope you are equally as inspired by it.
"I am 31-years old. I started to use Bench Step Aerobics about 1 year ago. I am a member of a small fitness club. I go there about four times each week by walking.
Because my husband is working here under a work visa, I do not have the right to work here. So, I walk about five miles every day to get to the library or supermarket. I also walk to my fitness club. While I'm walking, I see people in the cars looking at me. At first, this made me feel uncomfortable, but why? It was normal to walk everywhere in my country. Nothing stopped me, even the cold in the winter.
When I started class, they were difficult because I didn't know the routine and the names of the steps. It was also a foreign language for me. Even the smiles of some girls didn't make me weak. I started to go every day. I played with all four instructors and my legs suddenly became very hard.
I am the same 130 pounds since I started, but all of my friends say I am slimmer. I feel wonderful. I need to go there and when I do, I feel happy. Some girls offered me a ride a few times, but they didn't come. That too made me stronger. Everything in this country makes me stronger.
Now I work out on the first row of girls and the girls who smiled at me before are behind me.
I am proud of myself and would like to say to all girls like me--never give up! Aerobics became my life. Until my husband comes home from work, I don't stay home just watching tv. I didn't even care that the boys at the front desk at the gym didn't say hello to me, it just makes me stronger.
Good luck!"
