While some links to cancer have been made with saccharin, if you must use an artificial sweetener, it is best to use saccharin.

| Another Aspartame Story... |
We received this note from S.F. concerning her use of aspartame.
|
| "I'm a 42-year old female who had a partial thyroid lobectomy two weeks ago. My diagnosis was multinodular goiter. Although thyroid conditions run in my family, they, until now, begun at 65 or older. At 39 I was diagnosed with the "goiter." I began to do lots of research online, understanding that some of the data was based on hunches only.
One of the interesting things I discovered was that aspartame may be linked to the tumors in my thyroid. And, that made sense to me as only two years before I had switched from regular to diet soda in an attempt to stay healthy and reduce weight.
I laugh and say "I'm a heavy drinker"--I would drink diet soda all day long. I no longer drink the two liters or more daily. It may be the caffeine, but when I drink tea or coffee with Sweet-n-Low I have none of the symptoms from drinking diet soda.
When I started drinking water instead of soda, I noticed something interesting happening--I no longer had that "foggy brain syndrome" or metal "buzz"I usually got during the day when I was was drinking all that soda.
So... who knows. I'm not a scientist, but I know how I feel. I feel better when I stay away from aspartame."
Thank you S.F. for sharing your story with us.
