On 15 July 2004, we received a story from L.B. of Kansas City, MO, concerning her battle with and recovery from BED (Binge-Eating Disorder):
"I am a 37-year old woman and I have battled binge eating for twenty years. I developed a weight problem during the past three years and realized it was time to stop binging. The two things that have helped the most were to stop dieting (thanks to Jeanne Roth's books) and going to therapy.
I have never felt better. I eat when I am hungry and stop when I am full. There aren't "off limits" foods. Initially, I gained some weight while I figured out what hunger and satiety felt like, but I am on a losing trend. Therapy has been invaluable to help me to trust my body signals and, ultimately, myself. I don't have to binge."
Thank you L.B. for sharing your story. We look forward to future updates on your recovery. |
