We've put together the calorie and fat counts for some of the more popular food choices. Broken down into easy to use categories, you can now quickly calculate the calories and fat in the foods you eat.
Calorie Warning: Most pre-packaged or easy-to-prepare foods appear to be low in fat and calories. The problem with them is the portion size. Take a look at the label. The portion size is probably ridiculously small. This tiny portion sizing allows the calories and fat to be reflected as something reasonable. It's easy to see how favorite foods can "sneak up" on our waistlines.
It's also obvious that every high-calorie or high-fat food choice has a low-calorie or low-fat alternative. For example, a cup of fresh strawberries has 0 grams of fat and only 45 calories, but one piece of a 10-piece strawberry shortcake has 13 grams of fat and over 350 calories.
