Duodenal switch surgery
Even after obesity or weight-control surgery, it is important to meet with a dietician or nutritionist to develop a lifestyle of healthy eating habits and exercise.

If you fail to develop good eating habits and engage in regular exercise, no weight loss surgery will help you keep the weight off.

Be sure you keep your expectations reasonable when considering weight loss surgery. Investigate your potential surgeon. Consider side effects and recovery schedules. And, above all, resolve to treat yourself better with or without the surgery.

Duodenal Switch - Success Story #2
On 28 November 2004, we received this note from L.S. of Alexandria, VA, concerning her duodenal switch surgery:

"In December 2003, I had the DS surgery performed by my magnificent surgeon, Dr. Hazem Elariny of Northern Virginia.

In less than 1 week I will be 1 year out and I am down 160lbs! I am feeling so much better since surgery.

I was at the point were it begin to be difficult to walk without pain. I had constant aches and pains and I was in severe depression and had on many occassions comtemplated suicide. I had shut down, but apparently not completely because I didn't go through with it and my prayers were answered.

After researching this method and really knowing that this would be the best surgery for me, I was thrilled when I heard from my surgeons office that my insurance accepted it and it was a go! With no time wasted, I had completed all of my pre-surgery tests and with the tenacity and finesse of his office staff, I was able to have my surgery moved up 7 weeks from my original surgery date.

I only wish that more people would look into this fantastic surgery and that there were more skilled surgeons in the US to perform this platinum surgery. I owe my new life to my fantastic surgeon, Dr. Elariny!"

Thank you L.S. for sharing your inspirational story with us.
