If you like the tartness of Granny Smith apples, by all means use them.
You can also liven up this recipe by substituting lemon rind for the orange rind.

| Baked Apples |
Ingredients
(4 servings - 146 calories per serving)
|
| 4 whole |
baking apples |
| 1/4 cup |
honey |
| 1/2 cup |
water, boiling |
| 1 tsp |
grated orange rind |
|
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Wash and core apples.
- Place in deep baking dish.
- In small bowl, combine honey, water, and rind.
- Pour over apples.
- Bake for 30 minutes, basting with juices every 10 minutes.
- Uncover.
- Bake 15 minutes longer or until tender.
- Garnish with curls of orange peel and mint leaves, if desired.
