Mushrooms vary in taste by variety. While this recipe anticipates white button mushrooms, try different mushrooms each time for unique flavor changes.
Canned mushrooms can be used in this recipe, just be sure to rinse and drain them before adding to the recipe.

| Green Beans Italiano |
Ingredients
(4 servings - 175 calories per serving)

fresh green beans |
| 2 medium |
onions (sliced) |
| 1 tsp |
salt |
| 1/2 lb |
fresh mushrooms |
| 3 tbsp |
butter or margerine |
| 2 |
green onions |
| 1/2 cup |
fresh bread crumbs |
| 1 tsp |
dried thyme |
| 1/2 tsp |
black pepper |

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Prepare beans for cooking.
- Peel and slice onions.
- In medium saucepan, bring 3 quarts of water and 1 tsp salt to a boil.
- Add beans and onions.
- Boil beans with onions for about 7 minutes.
- Drain.
- Clean mushrooms and pat dry with paper towel.
- Slice mushrooms.
- Rinse and slice green onions.
- In a large skillet, melt butter or margerine and heat until lightly browned.
- Add mushrooms and green onions.
- Saute for 3 minutes.
- Add bread crumbs, thyme, and pepper.
- Remove from heat.
- Put beans and onions into a casserole or glass baking dish.
- Sprinkle skillet mixture over beans and onions.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
