These are a delicious appetizer and elegant enough for company.
These also work as a great side dish alongside pork roast, beef roast, or any steak.

| Ranch-Style White Onions |
Ingredients
(4 servings - 100 calories per serving)
|
| 1 lb |
small white onions |
| 1/4 cup |
white wine vinegar |
| 1/4 cup |
white wine |
| 1/2 cup |
stewed tomatoes |
| 3 tbsp |
brown sugar |
| 1 tsp |
dry mustard |
| 1/2 tsp |
ground cloves |
| 1/2 tsp |
ground ginger |
| 1 tbsp |
olive oil |
| 1/2 tsp |
red pepper sauce (Tabasco) |

- In a heavy saucepan, combine all ingredients except onions.
- Bring to a boil.
- Boil for 10 minutes or until mixture thickens.
- Trim and peel onions.
- Place into boiling water.
- Boil for 6 minutes.
- Drain.
- Place drained onions in saucepan mixture.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat.
- Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes.
- Serve while hot as a side dish or refrigerate and serve cold as a cocktail condiment.
