You can use fresh or canned fruit. When using canned, use only fruit packed in natural juices not syrups. Drain thoroughly before using.

Spiced Fruit
Ingredients
(12 servings - 90 calories per serving)
1 can (16 oz) peach halves
1 can (16 oz) pear halves
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup vinegar
2 sticks cinnamon
1/2 tsp whole cloves
  • Drain fruit, reserving 1-1/2 cups syrup.
  • In large saucepan, combine syrup, sugar, vinegar, cinnamon, and cloves.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Stir until sugar dissolves.
  • Reduce heat.
  • Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
  • Add fruit.
  • Simmer 15 minutes, stirring gently.
  • Pour mixture into large, heat-safe mixing bowl.
  • Cover.
  • Refrigerate overnight.
  • Serve cold.
