Baked apples can be sweet or tart depending on the type of apple you use
If you like the tartness of Granny Smith apples, by all means use them.

You can also liven up this recipe by substituting lemon rind for the orange rind.

Low fat and delicious
Baked Apples
Ingredients
4 servings - 146 calories per serving
>1 gram of fat per serving
4 whole baking apples
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup water, boiling
1 tsp grated orange rind
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Wash and core apples.
  • Place in deep baking dish.
  • In small bowl, combine honey, water, and rind.
  • Pour over apples.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, basting with juices every 10 minutes.
  • Uncover.
  • Bake 15 minutes longer or until tender.
  • Garnish with curls of orange peel and mint leaves, if desired.
