Vanilla extract can be made at home, just contact us for the recipe.
You can make a subtle taste change in this recipe by substituting almond, orange, or lemon extract for the vanilla.

To keep the taste very subtle, substitute only half of the vanilla extract!

Flan
Ingredients
8 servings - 240 calories per serving
7g fat per serving
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 eggs
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup water
1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Pour sugar into heavy skillet.
  • Stir over low heat until the sugar melts and carmelizes.
  • Coat a 9-inch, glass pie pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Pour melted sugar into the coated pie pan.
  • Swirl carefully to coat bottom and sides of pan with sugar.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs with condensed milk, water, and vanilla.
  • Beat until well-blended.
  • Pour mixture into sugared pie pan.
  • Fill a baking dish (larger than the pie pan) with about 3/4-inch of boiling water.
  • Carefully place pie pan into baking dish.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until custard sets.
  • Cool covered for at least 3 hours.
  • Place in refrigerator for 2 additional hours to chill thoroughly.
  • Remove from refrigerator and invert onto serving plate.
  • Drizzle accumulated sauce over flan and onto serving plate.
  • Slice as you would pie and serve with fresh berries, if desired.
