On 2 January 2004, we received this story from K.M. of Pleasant Hill, CA, concerning her use of sucralose (Splenda):
|
"I have been using Splenda for about six months. I have been baking and cooking with it and have completely eliminated sugar from all my recipes except ice cream--that's a tough recipe that I have not figured out. I have had no side effects at all. I have, however, had several very unpleasant episodes following consumption of the sugar alcohols. In particular, maltitol, lactitol, sorbitol, and polydextrose. The warning of possible laxative effect in "sensitive people" is insufficient.
I think many of the symptoms reported on your webpages as effects due to sucralose (Splenda) are actually due to the sugar alcohols always present in the recent avalanche of "low carb" foods. All the reports are anecdotal at best. And your information is incredibly biased and distorted. It makes me wonder what is really driving such slanted and misleading information. That is worth a look into."
Thank you K.M. for sharing your story with our visitors.
