"I started having intense headaches at least once a day for over a month before I saw a neurologist. She was convinced they were migraines. I was confused because it just didn't make sense that all of a sudden for no reason I would start having these episodes. They were becoming debilitating.
When I got back my MRI results, they were negative as well. So this furthered my desire to figure out what was causing them. One day, I came to the conclusion that just about the same time that I started using Splenda as a substitute, I started having these headaches. Although I am not 100% sure that this was the cause, when I discontinued the Splenda, my headaches became almost obsolete.
I have still had a couple, but I would associate them as being more stress-related than anything. If it's not the Splenda, it is very ironic that two days after I discontinued the use of it, they stopped!!!
I would discourage anyone from using these substitutes. One, there haven't been enouhg studies on humans to make a good decision regarding them. They've only been tested on rats--and that speaks for itself. Two, why not use regular sugar, just less? It has been around a very long time.
If we continue to use the preventative medications, etc., that doctors prescribe without knowing what is possibly causing the problems, we will never be able to reach the core of the issues.
That is just my opinion. Thanks."
