On 22 September 2004, we received this note from A.S. of Tiburon, CA, concerning their use of sucralose.

| "About a month ago, I got serious about losing weight. When I chose to try and live a healthier lifestyle it seemed a good course of action would be to take into consideration the reasonable aspects of the best diets on the market. To that end, I incorporated the less sugar, more protein of Atkins, the portion control of Weight Watchers, and the addition of grapefruit.
I decided to use Splenda instead of sugar or Equal (aspartame). I rarely add sugar to anything, so my use of Splenda packets in the last months has been maybe ten packets. However, I switched the creamer in my coffee to Coffee-Mate Carb-Select. When I first tried it, it had the aftertaste of Splenda but didn't say sweetened with Splenda or anything else on the label. I didn't think any more about it until a friend forwarded me the link to your site, specifically the article on Splenda. Suddenly, everything that's been happening to me psychiologically over the last month clicked in my head. It sent me to the fridge to get the creamer. There it is. The second to the last ingredient on the list--sucralose.
I've suffered from migraines since I was in the third grade. We have yet to identify all the triggers, so the random migraine is no surprise to me, but I've had several in the past month in addition to a few normal headaches. I have been unbelievably and uncomfortably bloated--this happens to me with the onset of my period so I didn't think much of it. I've been rather gaseous, which is unusual, but I attributed it to the addition of beans and lentils to my diet. I've been a little spacey at the office, easily distracted, and rather disorganized, which I attributed to changes occuring within the company.
Whereas asll my symptoms have alternate, explainable sources, I'm still concerned enough to wonder if they're coming from the sucralose in the creamer. I'm switching back to the regular Coffee-Mate immediately. I'll e-mail you again in a week to let you know if the symptoms have stopped."
