Splenda - the sugar substitute you need to be wary about
On 11 October 2004, we received this note from K.H. of Provo, UT, concerning their use of sucralose.
"Dear concerned website

I only used splenda for a month I can't say for sure that splenda harmed me but last month I noticed spotting between periods and cramping at odd times more than usual. My bowels haven't been as regular my husband said I've been moody and my weight loss I had been experiencing up until then slowed down considerbly. I also got an increased craving for sweets. Each day I wanted more and more splenda made foods. I can't each surgar because I have arthritis and arthritis symtoms feed on sugar. I take no meds for my condition I am against them.

Slenda didn't seem to hurt my arthritis so I thought it was harmless. When I read this site and so many stories I realized it might have effected me in a small way and even though I didn't experience major symtoms It might be just because I haven't taken it long enough. People need to be warned now. I think Splenda should be taken off the market place or at least advertized correctly with realistic side effects like any chemilcally based compound. It is not natural it a chrorocarbon according to Dr. Jim Brown. Check out this web site. www.wnho.net/splenda.htm. It will make you sick. I'm greatful to your web site for waking me up before my symtoms got any worse. I ask anyone who reads my letter please help blow the whistle. Let the public know, let your groceries know and pharmacy know and anyone you can think of that this is bad stuff. Do the research and you'll agree with me their is no such thing as a free calorie! Just cut back and enjoy what's good for you as God intended it. We must stop the splenda rage. Splenda is not Slendid!"

On 25 October 2004, we received an update from K.H.:

"Splenda was the problem. My weight loss has picked up again and my joint swelling has gone down. My thinking cleared up, except when I'm sleep deprived. LOL!

Thanks again."

Thank you K.H. for sharing your story with our visitors.
