On 5 October 2004, we received this note from T.S. of Evansville, IN, concerning their use of sucralose.

"I started drinking Decaffeinated Green Tea and a friend from the office where I work said she loved Splenda, so I started putting it in my tea. I will not use any substitute sweeteners, but she said it has no affects and after taste. Within that week, I started getting diarrhea. I had two beers one evening about a week after I started the Splenda and during the night I got diarrhea and have not had problems like that with drinking beer before. The following Sat. I drank a few more beers and again during the night, I had diarrhea again and this time had vomiting with it. This is when my husband said, maybe it is the Green Tea. I checked it out on the internet and there are no problems with Decaffeinated Green Tea. If it was Caffeinated, yes, I may have problems. I then found your website and found that others had stomach problems while on Splenda, then it made sense to me.
I then stopped taking the Splenda but kept drinking the Decaffeinated Green Tea and had no more problems. The next week, I thought I would try the Splenda again, and once again, my stomach was upset. I will not use Splenda again, but I am continuing on the Decaf Green Tea with no other problems. Another thing that bothered me was, when I was sleeping the times I was taking the Splenda, I seemed to not be able to keep my legs comfortable, felt jittery and kept tossing and turning all night long. I hope that it will be soon that FDA takes Splenda off of the market."
