| On 10 November 2004, we received this note from C.D. concerning their use of sucralose. |
"Actually I have a question I hope you can answer?
I started using coffee sweetener's made with Splenda back in August 04, at the time I weighed 129 pounds. It's now November 04 and I weigh 144 pounds. I can't figure out why I've gained 15 pounds in 3 month's? Everything is the same in my diet and exercise except the two cups of coffee I have everyday and "Davinci's" sugar free Irish Cream syrup made with Splenda.
Can Splenda make you gain weight or slow down your metabolism?"
On 16 November 2004, we received an update:
"Thank you so much for responding to my question! I was so frustrated. I quit using Splenda about 10 days ago and I've been eating and exercising as normal and I can see a difference when I look in the mirror and the way my clothes fit but I'm terrified to get on the scale due to the weight I gained recently while being good and doing what I'm suppose to do to lose or even maintain my weight. Maybe next week?
In my research of Splenda I read a lot about both Splenda and NutraSweet (which I've drank for years) and I'm now determined to give up all artificial sweeteners. I had no idea how bad they are for people and I'm determined to tell family and friends about them and get them to stop using them.
I'll let you know in a couple weeks.
Thanks again"
