On 14 November 2004, we received this note from L.M.S. concerning their use of sucralose.
|
"I purchased several bags of Splenda sweetened candy during the month of October 2004. I had no reason to believe that I'd have a negative reaction to it, as I have not experienced any problems with products made with other artifical sweeteners, and I have no known food allergies.
Unfortunately, I have experienced intestinal distress - cramps, painful bloating, nausea, etc. - each and every time I've eaten the candy.
(Hershey's Sugar-Free Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey's Sugar-Free Chocolate Bars and Russel Stover's Low-Carb Chocolate Medallions).
The effects show up about 15 minutes after I've eaten a piece of the candy, and they last for four to six hours.
Earlier today, I was offered a glass of Diet Rite Tangerine soda, and the same side effects materialized. I just found out that Diet Rite sodas are also sweetened with Splenda."
Thank you L.M.S. for sharing your story with our visitors.
