On 25 January 2005, we received this note from J.DS. of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, concerning their use of sucralose.
|
"Hi.
I am writing to you about the negative side effects I have had with Splenda. I started using Splenda as a replacement in all the ways I use sugar--in my coffee, on my cereal, etc. I was using quite a bit when I started to notice the following symptoms: headache, nausea, dizziness, mood swings, and fatigue, just to name a few.
A visit to my doctor and a physical ruled out everything. He suggested that I remove Splenda from my diet to see what would happen. Well, it took just two days of avoiding Splenda to get my health back to normal. I thought I was using a safe product until my doctor informed me that no sweetener is safe in mass quantities such as normal, daily usage.
I hope that consumers are aware of the effects these chemical sweeteners can have on their health. By providing my personal account, I hope I can make someone think twice before they reach for a box of Splenda."
Thank you J.DS. for sharing your story with our visitors.
