On 14 February 2004, we received this note from P.S. of Menasha, WI, concerning her use of sucralose.
|
"We recently changed our way of eating. The Sugar Busters Diet was recommended to us by our physician. We emptied our pantry and refrigerator and started fresh. We started using Splenda as a sugar substitute because it measured cup-for-cup with sugar and was easy to substitute in recipes. It is also in many "no sugar added" products on the market.
A couple of weeks after I started eating this way, I noticed I was very gassy, bloated, and sick to my stomach. It didn't seem to go away. Several nights I was so sick, I left work and went straight home to bed.
I talked with my husband and he had the gas and diarrhea. I started thinking about how we changed our diet and what could be causing the symptoms. I did some research and found your website and many more listing the possible symptoms that may occur when using Splenda.
We stopped using Splenda and have been symptom-free since.
Thank you for having the information out there for people to view--it was quite helpful. We feel much better now and just watch our sugar intake closely."
Thank you P.S. for sharing your story with our visitors.
