On 15 March 2005, we received this note from M.J.M. of Cherry Hill, NJ, concerning their use of sucralose.
|
"In 2002, I began using Splenda. At the end of the year, I wound up in the emergency room 3000 miles from home, doubled over in excrutiating pain. After many invasive tests, there was no diagnosis. I had never been to any emergency room before and felt foolish when I was told "you're fine."
In May of 2003, I had a similar, yet not as severe, attack and did not go to the hospital. I suspected that these attacks were the result of my use of Splenda, so I stopped using it.
This year, about 2 weeks ago, I decided to be more calorie-conscious and, again, I started using Splenda thinking that maybe I was mistaken and it wasn't the cause of my problems.
Last night, I had another attack. I felt like I was being trampled by a herd of elephants and repeatedly kicked in the gut. Today, I feel like my insides were twisted and punched. Based on past experience, this will last a few days.
I am now ABSOLUTELY CONVINCED that this is all the result of a reaction to Splenda. I will never try it again!! I am beyond disgusted that the FDA--the agency designed to protect us--would allow this product on the market knowing that it adversely affects so many people!!"
Thank you M.J.M. for sharing your story with our visitors.
