On 22 March 2005, we received this note from M.S. of McLean, VA, concerning their use of sucralose.

"About seven months ago, I decided to try to cut down on my calorie intake a little to help lose some weight. So, I started putting a half of a packet of Splenda into my tea in the mornings instead of sugar. Shortly thereafter, I started to have extreme mood swings, would cry hysterically at the drop of a hat, and have anxiety attacks.
My boyfriend, friends, and family were all concerned and I could tell something was wrong with me. I have a mild form of depression, but this was nothing even remotely like that. I literally felt like I was a crazy person.
Then, my mother, who was also putting Splenda in her tea once a day, started having extremely morbid thoughts, which is very unlike her. She is normally a very happy, positive person. She resolved to research Splenda online because that was the only thing she or I had added to our lives. She found that there was a link between Splenda and depression. My mother reported to me what she had found and we both stopped putting Splenda in our tea. Within days, we both felt normal again.
From that point on, I tell everyone that I can what happened to me and the dangers of Splenda. This product should be removed from the market immediately. So many people have no idea of the side effects it causes--both mental and physical."
Thank you M.M. for sharing your story with our visitors.
