On 15 March 2004, we received this note from C.C. from Jacksonville, FL, concerning her use of sucralose.

"In response to those dieters who blame any laxative effects they have on the other ingredients in their low-carb foods, I have this to say:
I do not consume any diet products. I have used Splenda only to reduce my dependency on processed sugar. I am an advocate of eating natural--lots of fiber, fruits, and other things that naturally cause gas, but never have been a problem for me.
Well, after diarrhea, bloating, gas, etc., for over a week, I will be ceasing my use of Splenda and any other artificial sweeteners forever. I have always said I would never use NutraSweet or Sweet-n-Low and the others because they were chemicals. I felt Splenda was okay because it was "natural." Well... tell that to my suffering abdominal tract!
Some people may use this stuff and be just fine, or so they think. But I would not be willing to risk my future health to a product that causes this many problems for so many people."
Thank you C.C. for sharing your story with our visitors.
