"Here I am thinking I am a stroke in evolution and maybe it is the Splenda...
I've had a headache, mental confusion (mild), dizziness, ringing in my ears, been irritable, and have been sensitive to sound. I've been tired most of the last three weeks to the point of just not wanting to do anything.
My husband was the one that said maybe it is the Splenda. I have been consuming a lot of it in coffee and on strawberries, plus a lot in drinks. So, tonight, I am off of all of it.
I am a nurse who is rarely ill. I have worked 40-50 hours a week for the last ten years. I will let you know how things pan out after being off this stuff.
If it's true that it is the Splenda--all I can say is: shame on the government for approving this and the company who produces this stuff better get a good lawfirm as the class action lawsuit will be huge!"
On 20 March 2004, we received an update:
"I have been off of Splenda for four days and the headaches are almost gone. Today I feel great and hope this evening is okay. I have found that the evenings are sometimes strange. My eyes still feel a little strained. I had thought I was getting menieres disease. Their description on the Internet was close to my same symptoms. My God! This has been very scary and still could this all be due to Splenda?
Will keep you posted and the best to you. Thank you for putting this webpage together. Most of us would have gone to a doctor and he would have handed us a ton of pills and said you have menieres or TIA or a brain tumor or something! You would have ended up depressed and a heck of a lot poorer with MRIs, CAT scans, and numerous other tests to find out if you were lucky that you did not have anything explainable. Other doctors would have done surgery, perhaps--- if you had a bad one, that is.
But... I ramble on. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!"
On 8 April 2004, we received another update:
"This is an update from S.W. in Cape Coral, FL. I am over all the symptoms that I had. All I can say is it is either Splenda or a virus that did this to me!"
On 9 April 2004, we received another update:
"After having gone through what I had, I just look at that packet and say NO! Those symptoms were so scary that I do not want to ever visit those feelings again! Thanks for helping all of us."
Thank you S.W. for sharing your story with our visitors.
