On 18 March 2004, we received this note from S.M. of Cicero, IL, concerning her use of sucralose.
|
"After several months on the Atkins diet and losing weight, I decided to try using Atkins products (that all contain sucralose) and Splenda as a sugar substitute.
For the next three months, I started to actually gain weight. I experienced heartburn, bloating, severe smelly gas, and chronic severe diarrhea. But I did not link it to the sucralose right away!
When I went to my doctor, he did many blood tests. They showed that my liver enzymes were elevated very high. We could not figure out what was wrong.
I started eliminating foods from my diet and researching on the Internet. The last to be eliminated were the Atkins products and the Splenda in my coffee. They all contained sucralose.
I have since returned to my normal self. I will never use Splenda or sucralose again!"
Thank you S.M. for sharing your story with our visitors.
