"After the holidays, I decided it was time to drop some weight. I bought a box of Splenda. I began having bloating and gas pains in my abdomen on my right side and some diarrhea. I work in a hospital and someone mentioned that it sounded like my gall bladder.
The pain started to go down my right side toward my appendix area and there was also a pain in my back. I found that after taking Mylanta, the feeling subsided. This went one for about six weeks. I finally went to the doctor.
Being a breast cancer survivor, I always get put through a battery of tests. The ultrasound of my gall bladder was negative. I was then scheduled for a CAT scan. I then noticed that the pains were starting to go away and I was feeling better. This was around the time the box of Splenda ran out.
A couple of Sundays ago, I decided to try the low carb diet again and bought another box of Splenda. The following day the diarrhea started again and I had terrible indigestion. On Wednesday night, I could hardly sleep and felt miserable and very jittery. All week I was extremely tired.
Finally, on Saturday evening, I put two-and-two together as the pain in my right side came back and I was feeling dizzy and light-headed all afternoon. The only thing different about my diet was the Splenda.
I went on the Internet and saw that many other people had the same symptoms. I've been off Splenda for two days now and feel somewhat better, though my intestines still feel irritated."
