On 24 April 2004, we received this note from L.B. of Leominster, MA, concerning her use of sucralose.
|
"Yesterday I accompanied my friends to a coffee shop for iced coffee. Since I'm watching my weight, I opted for the Splenda rather than the usual sugar. Literally 5 minutes after consuming half of my iced coffee, my throat felt like it was swelling shut. I I was gasping for air. My arms went completely numb, as did my legs. A rash burst out all over me.
I was rushed to the emergency room where my blood pressure was sky-high. I was given breathing treatments and was told this is a common reaction to this sugar substitute.
I have three small children and yesterday I honestly felt like I was never going to see them or my husband again. I still have this horrible rash from the incident.
I am considering calling an attorney to see what legal rights I may have toward this company."
Thank you L.B. for sharing your story with our visitors.
