"I have been using Splenda in my iced tea for the past two or three weeks. Me and my four-year old daughter have been drinking at least a glass a day for that time period. I hate to tell you, but the results were horrible and I began to feel so bad for giving this substance to my daughter.
I started using Splenda myself about a year ago in my hot tea at work and I never noticed any ill effects. This prompted me to start using other products that contain Splenda, and to bring it home. About the time I started using Splenda at home, I noticed that my daughter was suffering from diarrhea and gas. I did not at first suffer any symptoms.
My daughter LOVES dairy products, so at first I thought this was the problem--that she was eating too much dairy. I cut down on her intake and switched to soy milk. The problems still persisted.
Then, about a week ago, I also started suffering from gas and diarrhea. It wasn't until this very morning that I made the connection with the timeline and did a web search for the connection between Splenda and diarrhea or gas. I just hope I have not caused any permanent damage to my daughter's young system. I thought since Splenda was made from sugar, it was safe. I was wrong.
As soon as I get home tonight I'm throwing all of mine in the trash. We will switch back to regular sugar."

"I also wanted to note that both my daughter and I have experienced irritability since we have been using Splenda. My daughter never really has a hard time at school, but the past few weeks her teacher has been reporting that she has had attitude problems, has not been listening well, and has been more prone to fight with other children.
I thought it might be due to the fact that she was having stomach problems and that may have been making her a little touchy. But, after reading the stories on your site and many others, and putting it together with my own recent irritability (at home and at work), I'm beginning to think this may also be due to the Splenda.
We're both going cold turkey today. I will let you know which, if any, symptoms disappear. Hopefully, we will get back to normal after we stop poisoning ourselves."

"I wish more people would get the word out about the possible side effects of this product. I feel that I was misled, they really make you believe it is a natural product and cannot do any harm. Thank you for your site and the work that you are doing."
Thank you S.C. for sharing your story with our visitors.
