"I too have experienced chronic daily severe migraine headaches and had no idea they could have been caused by Splenda.
I was diagnosed with diabetes and was told that I had to lose weight. Splenda became my new crutch since I was addicted to sugar. I used Splenda like it was going out of style, especially since I started drinking coffee. I upped my usage of the substance. I say "substance" because that's just what it is! A substance--and apparently not a very nice one.
I was taking Propranolol to help curb the headaches, but still had a few headaches each mnth while on the 50mg per day dosage. I gained 15 pounds in six months on that drug since it slowed my energy level and my heart rate. I asked my doctor to take me off it, so I was weaned from it. I began having new chronic bouts with migraine and had to take barbiturates to curb the pain again.
Then, lo and behold, my husband heard a program on television in which the guest speaker declared Splenda to be one of the worst things to eat or ingest. I decided to stop using this sweetener immediately to see what would transpire. I have not had a migraine since. Thank God!
I am no longer afraid to go to bed at night because I used to wake up most mornings in severe pain accompanied by nausea. I am so happy I have a chance to regain my health.
I also believe Splenda caused me to have depression and crying jags which are totally not like ME. I even lost a chance at a promotion because of these adverse changes in my behavior. Now, I am once again a happy gal and ready to take on the world--minus Splenda!
Someone must help in the removal of Splenda from the market right now--before it's too late."
