Splenda - the sugar substitute you need to be wary about
On 18 June 2004, we received this note from G.E. concerning their use of sucralose.
"I've been using Splenda for two months. For most of that period I have had some ankle pain and extreme knee pain (almost debilitating at times). In otherwise excellent health at 70-years old. I've been thinking it is the first sign of old age...

Just today I realized that the only thing I overdo is Splenda (a sugar freak). As many as 5-6 packets a day. So, I will follow your suggestion beginning immediately. Thank you."

On 29 June 2004, we received an update from G.E.:

"That day I e-mailed you, I stopped all Splenda and within 2 days the extreme pain was gone. Now, around 2 weeks later, all pain is gone, no swelling (although that was not extreme) and only a very slight soreness remains in one place on the inside knee.

I hiked in Yosemite last Sunday on the sixth day of abstinence.

I am a vegetarian. I have never smoked, have never done any liquor, nor substance of any kind. I have never had a medical prescription. I still ski and ride my bike.

To me, it is very clear that Splenda was the culprit.
