Xenical - one woman's story
On 3 August 2003, we received the following story from one of our visitors. We believe it captures the truth behind the diet pill myths and breaks down the sensationalism that surrounds the latest diet pill "breakthroughs." See for yourself...
"Hello there. I am 30 years old and I live in London. I have tried Xenical. I was on it for a month. My general practitioner prescribed it for me.

I had tried SlimFast, but I was still hungry. In fact, I was starving. I had also been to a slim clinic (weight loss clinic) and I did lose a lot of weight. Then, I came out of it and the weight went back on. I was still eating the same foods.

That's when I went to my general practitioner. He put me on Xenical. I was on them for a while, but I got the need to go to the restroom a lot. I actually put on more weight than I lost. I was very upset, so I went back to my doctor.

I told him about a pill my sister is using. He said I couldn't have them because he doesn't like giving them to people. He said that people who have used them were on them for a few days, they had problems, then came off of them.

Then my doctor told me the old method--cut down calories and exercise. I am dieting on my own and it is hard, but I hope I can do it. I have a congenital heart problem and that gives me the incentive to lose the weight because weight around my heart can cause me more problems.

I hope that this helps any people who are thinking of taking pills. They don't help you lose weight. They can actually make you gain weight."
