Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 10 June 2005, we received this note from C. of Florida concerning their use of sucralose.
"Please, never use Splenda again--I just spent all of last night on the toilet with gas pain and diarrhea.

Last week, my wife bought a new Coke product--Diet Coke with Splenda--having heard it has a much better taste than regular Diet Coke without an aftertaste. She was right. Diet Coke with Splenda, in terms of taste, is a dream come true.  It has no bitterness at all. No chemical aftertaste.  In fact, it has a strangely and pleasantly sweet aftertaste that lingers for some time.

What I discovered was that about the time I started drinking it, mysterious bowel pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea emerged.  I thought it was Irritable Bowel Syndrome returning with a vengeance in a new form. I put it out of my mind.

We went to the beach last weekend, whereupon I drank beer and regular Coke all weekend. Without even pondering it, the mystery symptoms disappeared. On Monday, having returned home, I began to drink the Splenda elixir again. Hence the gas works which began yesterday and lasted until this morning.

The new Coke product is reminiscent of Olean, the fake fat that was once introduced into Lay's potato chips and later taken off the market because it caused diarrhea. Both products are Frankenstein laboratory creations not found in nature. Our bodies cannot metabolise or synthesize them, and thus they cause diarrhea and bowel problems.

The perfect diet soft drink that tastes great is actually a laxative, and one that can have long lasting negative effects on your body. Avoid Splenda at all costs!"

Thank you C. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
