My wife noticed I liked them and started picking up 12-packs at Walmart. She also started picking up Diet Rite and other RC products that use Splenda. I started drinking two or more a day.

Soon, the itching began.  I'm sensitive to allergies in the spring, so I shrugged it off, but the itch became a rash around my upper arms, armpits, torso, legs, tops of feet, etc. Little clusters of red itchy bumpy areas. It was driving me crazy. I went to the doctor. He checked for scabies (yikes!) and prescribed an antihistamine and dermatology ointment.  The ointment helped where it was applied, but the rash continued to pop up in new areas. I was freaking out.

However, my pursuit of non-harmful sweets continued.  I Googled Splenda last Thursday in search of other good products. Pretty high up in the search rankings, along the pro-Splenda sites, was this site and a handful of others discussing the possible side effects of Splenda! I was floored when I saw my exact experience being relayed by others on various blogs. The internet comes through again!

So, I abstained from everything with sucralose for the past six days.  The itching has stoped.  No new rash or bumps have developed.  The old bumps are healing up. I'm convinced it would have taken me many months, if ever, to reach the conclusion that the Splenda was causing my problem. If the makers of Splenda continue to dispute any side effects--they are lying!  Thanks."
