Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 18 May 2005, we received this note from M.B.S. of Goodrich, MI, concerning their use of sucralose.
"Hi.

We've used Splenda before in small amounts... such as sprinkling it on strawberries or on grapefruit, but recently I was happy to find some new Brach's candies made with Splenda. Since I like the taste of Splenda so much more than Nutrasweet, I was happy to find this relatively new candy for a guilt-free treat.

Well, I must admit I ate several of the chocolates (rather than just one) and my son ate a pouch of the Splenda-sweetened gummi bears. Both kinds of candy are delicious! But... several hours later, both my son and I are in abdominal DISTRESS! We are both nearly doubled over with terrible gas pains and, since everything else we both ate today was rather normal for our routine, we can only assume it was the Splenda in the candy.

I haven't heard any testimonials about Splenda and gas before, so I searched on Google to see what came up. That lead me to this website. Obviously, we're not hte only ones who get Splenda induced gas!

My husband, however, had several of the same chocolates I did and he said he didn't get the gas pains. Maybe some people react and others don't."

Thank you M.B.S. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
