| Another Splenda Story submitted by a visitor |

| On 8 August 2005, we received this note from B.A. of Toledo, OH, concerning their use of sucralose. |

| "Last night, I made a blueberry crisp recipe recommended on the Weight Watchers message boards. It consisted of blueberries, oatmeal, 3/4 cup Splenda, and light butter or canola oil. Since I had only been using the small packets of sweetener up to this point, 3/4 cup seemed like A LOT. But it tasted great!
I didn't notice any immediate side effects, but I noticed that later that night I had some minor pain from the left side of my chest. It wasn't anything major, but it was unusual. The only unusual thing I had ingested was the Splenda, so I wondered if that was the culprit. The next morning, I had an appointment with my nutritionist and my blood sugar was unusually high. Later that evening, I felt kind of sweaty-like when the blood sugar is high, even though I haven't had those reactions for more than two months. I hadn't anything since breakfast more than three hours ago! So, I don't know that Splenda is the cause, but I suspect that it has something to do with it. I have never had any reactions to the small packets even when I used more than one of Splenda or Equal. I really think it is not safe to use large quantities of this stuff!" Thank you B.A. for sharing your story with our visitors. |
