Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 15 July 2005, we received this note from C.S. in New Jersey concerning their use of sucralose.
"I just tried Splenda today with my coffee. I don't usually drink coffee, but if I do, I have a 20-oz coffee at work with 1/3 milk and 12 packs of sugar. I know it's a very sweet coffee, but that's how I like it.

I tried the same size with the same amount of milk today and 12 packets of Splenda. I did notice that 1 pack of Splenda is sweeter than 1 pack of sugar because my coffee was sweeter than when I use the same amount of sugar.

I have experienced an overall depressed feeling today and it's a Friday! I have also felt headachy and had stomach pains hours after I had the coffee. I had some dizziness, as well.

I had the coffee with a piece of pound cake and, for lunch, I had half a skinless rotisserie chicken with seltzer water. I am still feeling the side effects and they are getting worse. I hope they go away soon.

I must comment that I have not felt this way in a long time and I have NEVER tried Splenda because I don't like unnatural things.  I drink water--not diet Coke or Crystal Lite. I went out of my way to e-mail because I do feel my side effects are because of Splenda.

Thanks for the info."

Thank you C.S. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
