Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 21 June 2005, we received this note from D. concerning their use of sucralose.
"My diet is very organized, thought out, and documented. I have several Excel spreadsheets tracing what I eat, when I eat, my caloric intake, protein-carb-fat ratios, sodium, etc. Health and nutrition is a serious hobby for me and my dedication has resulted in many first place trophies in fitness competitions.

So, when I had a sudden attack of bloating and severe gas, it didn't take long for me to uncover the problem. My records revealed that nothing in my diet or daily activities had changed since the onsalught of these quite distasteful (and often embarassing) bodily afflictions apart from one item. I had begun eating Splenda-laced sorbet and Splenda-laced popsicles as a treat.

Within a day of eliminating Splenda from my diet, the symptoms completely vanished. As a test, I reintroduced Splenda again at a later date. Within two hours, my stomach swelled to an unsightly degree, followed by the emission of an unbelievable amount of fas for nearly SIX HOURS. The toxic fumes were so thick, I was forced to leave all the windows of my apartment open with fans running for days and repeatedly applying Lysol before the smell finally dissipated.

I've never used Splenda before and I will never use it again. I have no allergies and have always been very healthy. I take no medications whatsoever. Equal and NutraSweet have never bothered me."

Thank you D. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
