Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 23 June 2005, we received this note from I. concerning their use of sucralose.
"Splenda causes me fatigue and thirst. Not every time, but 90% of the time that I ingest Splenda, I feel like I haven't slept or drank water in days. It's a horrible feeling.

I saw specialist after specialist and not one could find a reason for my symptoms.  I thought it was diabetes. It was by chance that I figured out it was the Splenda causing it.

I started using Splenda when I began the Atkin's Diet. At first, I attributed the fatigue and thirst to the diet since many people said it was common. However, the fatigue and thirst continued for months after I stopped Atkin's.

I used to buy Splenda in bulk at Costco, but, for an extended period of time, they ran out. It was at that point that I stopped using Splenda for a week or more. I didn't notice right away that the fatigue was gone because it would come and go throughout the month. It dawned on me that it was the Splenda when I finally bought more and started using it again. That same day the symptoms came back.

I stopped using it for the most part, but today I didn't think about it and added Splenda to my coffee.  Boom!  I feel like crap. I was such a pusher of Splenda--telling everyone about it and how I have to use the crappy Sweet-n-Low or Equal. :("

Thank you I. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
