Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 15 November 2005, we received this note from B.M. concerning their use of sucralose.
"A couple of years ago, I started using Splenda intermittently in the so-called "fitness drinks." A few months later, I went on the South Beach Diet and, after moving into Phase II, I decided to try some of the Atkins ice cream bars.

I was okay for a week or so until, one day, I ate one and then drove to the grocery store. When I got there, I started feeling weird and sick--headachy, dizzy, faint. I thought "could this be what a stroke feels like?"

I thought I was going to have to call my husband to come and get me, but I was able to drag myself home and onto the couch. I gave up the Splenda immediately. I had been alert to the possibilities of a reaction because a number of years ago, I had a nasty reaction to aspartame.

It amazes me that after all of the documented problems with that sweetener, another has hit the market despite obvious issues. I guess we just want to have our cake and eat it, too!"

Thank you B.M. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
