| "I cannot be positive that my experience is related to my increased use of sucralose-sweetened products, however, I am very much in-tune with my body and how it feels. This is what leads me to believe that an overuse of sucralose (Splenda) causes stomach distress.
Like lots of women, the 3-a-day message for stronger bones is something that has resonated with me. Therefore, I significantly increased my intake of calcium with milk, cheese, and yogurt, over the past year or so. In the last month, I increased my yogurt consumption to two 6-8 oz servings per day. Mostly, I have been eating the sucralose-sweetened kind (usually a store brand--Kroger, Jewel, etc). I was experiencing stomach pains and a touch of nausea--unlike I've ever experienced before. It was a dull ache just below my rib cage accompanied by a general sense of malaise. The pain wasn't excrutiating, but it was something that lasted for a few hours. The only thing that I had changed in my diet recently was the additional yogurt I've been eating every day--the additional sucralose-sweetened yogurt. In addition, I would chew sucralose-sweetened gum and drink diet pop with sucralose. I've switched to plain yogurt and will occasionally have only ONE sucralose-sweetened yogurt a day. In addition, I have limited the amount of gum I chew AND the amount of diet soda I consume. The stomach pain and nausea are now gone. I don't think this was a coincidence."
