Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 23 September 2005, we received this note from J.L. concerning their use of sucralose.
"I'm not sure how old your story is on the Internet, but I thought I'd tell you what I recently discovered.

I have had heart palpitations for several years and just learned to live with it. This past year, it was really bad and I got dizzy about a half dozen times where I thought I might pass out.

How I made the discovery is very strange indeed. I called Colgate and asked them why my mouth had a slight peeling after I brushed my teeth and they told me I was having an allergic reaction to one of the chemicals. That took me to the internet and some experimentation.

Long story short... there are three chlorine molecules in Splenda.  I was drinking about a gallon a night of Splenda-sweetened drinks and watching my chest pound, not knowing what it was the Splenda and the toothpaste.

Twice I used them separately and it started again. After a 2-3 weeks period of feeling like a new person without Splenda, I drank some juice that said it had fewer calories than most juices--but no mention of Splenda or diet. I'm watching television, and suddenly my heart starts pounding again! I stared to look up all of the ingredients on the internet and discovered that sucralose is the same as Splenda! This really should have been plain to see. Now, I look at labels carefully."

Thank you J.L. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
