| "I am a 35-year old female who had never experienced joint pain until July 2005. One July morning, I woke up and found that I could hardly roll over, let alone stand up to get to the bathroom. I laid in my bed for almost an hour trying to get out of bed, crying the whole time. My knees, wrists, feet, ankles, fingers, and toes were so sore I thought I must be really sick. I stayed in bed all day except to get out for necessity. Every time I moved while in bed, I nearly broke into tears. I thought I would get better, but the next day I was worse. I called my mom who had to literally walk me to the bathroom and walk me back to bed. This went on for a few days and, finally, I saw my doctor.
She wanted me to see a rheumatologist, which I did. After x-rays and a lot of blood work, all the tests came back negative for any type of arthritis, not even a hint of it. My doctors were at a loss. I joined the arthritis foundation message boards and told my story. My thought it was sero-negative rheumatoid arthritis, but one person said I should write a food journal and see what could be different in my diet. I did. I found I was drinking this new type of tea and eating some other new foods. All of these contained Splenda. After stopping all Splenda intake, my joint pain went away within a week. I have not touched it since that time. I feel great. This went on from July until September 2005. The arthralgia I experienced during this time literally knocked me off my feet and kept me from living a normal life. I never knew the side effects from Splenda could cause me, and maybe others. I hope this story somehow helps someone else." Thank you D. for sharing your story with our visitors. |
