Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 4 September 2005, we received this note from C.B. of Lewisville, NC, concerning their use of sucralose.
"When Splenda first showed up on the market several years ago, I sampled a few things that contained it, like ice cream. I had heard it could cause some symptoms, especially in the very young.  I experienced no problems from this initial introduction to the product.

However, recently, Coca Cola introduced a diet drink that contains Splenda and I, like a lot of others, thought it was made from sugar and, therefore, was probably safe. I drank several of the new Cokes over a two-week period. That was about a month ago.

I have been experiencing very loose bowel problems in the morning and, sometimes, immediately after I eat a meal. I have discontinued the use of anything that I know contains Splenda hoping that my problems will subside. However, as yet, this has not been the case.

Apparently, this product does not affect everyone adversely.  In fact, if it had not affected me, I would probably still be using it because I actually thought the new Coke was very good.

Following the onset of my problems after ingesting Splenda, I talked with a close friend who is a toxicologist and asked for his thoughts. He said he expected over the long-term, there would be findings of serious problems just like aspartame."

Thank you C.B. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
