| On 29 November 2005, we received this note from L.W. concerning their use of sucralose. |

| "I was using Splenda sparingly and I was not cooking with it and I did not use it everyday, UNTIL, I decided to go on a low carb diet. That's when I started having trouble. If I drank or ate something with Splenda as an ingredient I would have bladder urgency. Of course, I did not relate this to Splenda right away. Just nixed it off as being 50. One evening I was having an urge for something sweet, not wanting to fall off my diet, I poured three packs of Splenda in my mouth and it worked like a char. It negated my cravings. I was happy, and went to bed. Around 4 a.m., I woke up to excruciating bladder spasms. I could not straighten up, walking was painful as every step jarred my bladder. Though I did not have the typical burning upon voiding as with a true urinary tract infection, the spasms were unbearable. After 5 hours and a liter of water later, the pain finally subsided. Crazy as this may seem, I wanted to test Splenda again to see if I got the same reaction, and I did. Never again will I touch artificial sweeteners. If I have a craving for something sweet again, I will get a piece of hard candy and call it a day. " Thank you L.W. for sharing your story with our visitors. |
