Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 16 December 2005, we received this note from D.A. in Utah concerning their use of sucralose.
"I recently began a diet and exercise program. I went out and purchased a lot of diet foods and drinks to support my efforts.

A couple of weeks back, I tried Diet Coke with Splenda. I liked the taste better than aspartame-sweetened varieties. So, over the next couple of weeks, until yesterday, I enjoyed a Coke or two every day. No problems.

Yesterday, I bought some Jones Soda Green Apple and some Blue Bunny ice cream bars. Both had Splenda in them. By the end of the day, I had consumed one bar and about six cans of the soda. I know-- a lot! I started to get flushed all over and itchy. I also got a pretty good headache. The flushing was like taking a bunch of niacin or getting a sunburn. This is only thing really different in my diet, so I figured it was the soda and stopped drinking it.

I am much better after drinking a lot of water.  I figure I'll just stay away from the drinks and foods with Splenda as I am somewhat sensitive to it. I would hate to think what would happen to someone who was really sensitive to it. I am sure this stuff is not killing people, but it sure could make people uncomfortable."

Thank you D.A. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
