| On 29 December 2005, we received this note from M. concerning their use of sucralose. |

| "I had heartburn, indigestion, lack of concentration, no energy, and restlessness at night. The only thing I could finally determine might be the cause is Splenda.
I quit smoking about a year ago and thought maybe my metabolism had changed and these symptoms might be a side effect of quitting. I had also been short of breath and found myself breathing rapidly almost like a panic attack. The heartburn has been unstoppable. I've tried Zantac, Tums Extra Strength, Prilosec, Rolaids--you name it. It all stopped within two days after stopping Splenda use. That crap should come with a warning. Maybe some people do not have symptoms, but enough do that we should be aware. If cigarettes must warn people, then so should hte Splenda makers. My way of life was disrupted for almost ten months. I never had a clue it was the additive. I read these posts one day and said, "Wait a minute!" I had replaced sugar with Splenda trying to counter the weight gain normally associated with quitting smoking. I wonder if that could be it... Then, I did a search for Splenda and heartburn and found your site. Thanks for the information! I hope this helps someone else. " Thank you M. for sharing your story with our visitors. |

| If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities. . |
