Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 27 March 2006, we received this note from C.O. concerning their use of sucralose.
"I used Splenda for a year with no noticeable problems. Then I began drinking flavored water sweetened with Splenda, and I ended up with the following symptoms:
  • shortness of breath
  • heart palpitations
  • hot flashes constantly
  • always feeling TERRIBLY hot during the winter months
  • insomnia
  • loss of periods
  • increased appetite and weight gain

Of course, I was also irritable, moody, and very tired. Eventually, after two months, I realized that the symptoms increased after consuming a product containing Splenda. I cut the Splenda out of my diet and the symptoms went away within a week.

After looking into this, I think it did something to my thyroid. I think this is more common than one would think, since I'm running into women all over with the same symptoms.  When I ask if they use Splenda, their faces get that "ah-ha" look.  I'm just so glad I found out about this before letting my kids consume these products, which are popping up in everything. Get the word out about this poison!"

Thank you C.O. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
