Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 25 March 2006, we received this note from C.T. concerning their use of sucralose.
"It was probably a year ago when I noticed that was getting many UTIs (urinary tract infections). During a conversation with my sister, I mentioned this to her. She asked if I was using Splenda in anything because she gets UTIs when she has anything with Splenda. the answer was YES.

I was using half sugar/half Splenda in my kids KoolAid.  After this revelation, I stopped using it. Then, in October of last year, I was in a phase where I had coffee every day at Barnes & Noble Bookstores.  This particular week, I was having one of my co-workers bring my coffee back.  I didn't know it, but she was using Splenda in it. After I developed another UTI, I asked her what sweetener she was putting in my coffee and she said Splenda.

I steer clear of this stuff because experience has spoken. Splenda causes UTIs.  Yesterday, I developed another one and, when I was searching for the answer, I remembered that I had a half of a Propel Sports Drink (1/4 one day, 1/4 the other day). When I purchased it, I didn't see anything obvious that it was made with Splenda. I went to the bottle and it is made with sucralose (Splenda).

We need to get this message out. It doesn't affect my boys or my husband, but it does affect the women in my family.  Thank you for listening."

Thank you C.T. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
