Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 9 May 2006, we received this note from F.B. concerning their use of sucralose.
"Hi.

Living with two diabetic men--my husband and son--we try to take care of our sugar intake. We often buy yogurt as a snack or for lunches.

Well, one Sunday, after supper, instead of ice cream, I ate a yogurt sweetened with sucralose. That evening, I started feeling so dizzy.  I had a hard time getting into bed. The next day, I was worse. I could hardly get up from dizziness and weakness. But, if I was lying down, I felt better, but not strong.  I was weak for at least four days. I was not able to work. I thought it was some virus.  I thought "it will go away." It did--after four days.

It had to be the yogurt! Nobody in the family got sick. I've always hated diet drinks or anything dietetic. I find they have an odd aftertaste. Luckily, I'm not diabetic and I don't have to watch my weight.

I'm always full of energy. Those few days were terrible! I was home alone and couldn't find the strength to make myself a coffee. It had to be the sugar substitute.

Reading other cases, I discovered that muscle pain in the back of my legs was something other people have reported. I recalled that as I was reading, I couldn't cross my legs on a chair or sofa. I have not taking anything else.

I'd love to know if this happened to anyone else. Not one case in my family of other people having problems with Splenda, but there are no diabetics in my family, only in my husband's family.  Thanks for this site!"

Thank you F.B. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
