Splenda Chat

Coming soon... a Splenda chatroom where you discuss the benefits and drawbacks of sucralose consumption with other Splenda users.

On 7 June 2006, we received this note from T.L.M. in Norway concerning their use of sucralose.
"Here is my Splenda experience, another negative story.

I was introduced to Splenda by my sister. She is in the entertainment industry and needs to keep her figure trim. She swore by it and I bought the little yellow box and took it home to Norway (my current country of residence).

Sucralose has only just been introduced to the Norweigian market through the mightly Coca Cola industry. It has not, thankfully, been available until now.

I began to use the product in warm beverages and I also bought some sugar-free cocoa with Splenda. After two days, I noticed that I had a strange tingling sensation in my body and I had a hard time remembering tasks or lyrics.  I am a singer, so I can't have memory loss! I noticed a slowed muscle reaction in my hands.  I became down and depressed. I only used a half packet of Splenda in my coffee and had one package of the cocoa.

I had not had any other changes to my diet or routine, so I figured it MUST be the Splenda. I went on the Net to find out if anyone else had experienced adverse effects and found only one other case like mine. This was three years ago.

I stopped using the Splenda for two days and my symptoms went away.  I tried it again, and my symptoms came back.  I have never used Splenda again.  I warned my sister not to use it, but she thought I was crazy. However, on my visit home, she informed me she discontinued her use of Splenda because she finally linked her depression and a feeling of craziness to the product.

I know that in the future they will find this product to be extremely harmful.  I believe that others may have adverse reactions but not link it to the Splenda. Unfortunate. It's poisonous!"

Thank you T.L.M. for sharing your story with our visitors.

If you have experienced any side effects, whether you are sure it is Splenda or not, be sure to speak with your physician and discuss all possibilities.
